Opps, missed one picture .... well this gives me a chance to tell you about this wonderful lady.. Elizabeth "Lizzie" Owens Barrett was the second wife of Jacob Zolliecoffer Sheats.
Zol's first wife Sudie S. Gorden gave birth to 7 children in the span of 1886- 1896, with her first being twin girls. One baby girl died an infant death. Sudie herself died one year later in 1897 leaving 6 children between the ages of 2-12 without a mother..
Zol married "Lizzie" in Jan 9, 1898, and she took on the the job of mother to all 6 children. She then had two of her own. When her sister died givng birth to twin girls with mother and one twin dying, Lizzie took the other twin girl to raise as her own. I think she is quite a women. All of her children loved her dearly.
Short Story of : William Haralson Sheats
This is all of the pictures that I have of George Merrill Sheats parents and grandparents. I am sure that other siblings of his do have pictures but all have passed on and I am sure they were given to their children. I thank Charlotte for making me copies of the ones that I do have..
I do have a short story of "William Haralson Sheats" father of Jacob Zolliecoffer Sheats. William was born in Campbell County, his father Charles N. Sheats moved his family from the east side of Georga, to Campbell County, then in 1836 moved his family to Villa Rica, GA. The Sheats family is part of the first families to settle Villa Rica, GA.
William H. Sheats joined the Civil War and is listed as a 1st Sgt, deserving the "Crosses of Honor". He would have received this medal had he presented himself. Page 18, of the "The Villa Rica History Book" by Mary Talley Anderson.
Page 8, he is listed as an outstanding cotton Merchant.

Ship S.S. Cella
Ellen Marie Owens born around 1847, born in England married a James George Barrett in Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales. She gave birth to two children, a girl Elizabeth "Lizzie " Barrett born in 1867 in Wales and a baby boy James "Llewellyn" Barrett born 1869.
She traveled to America with her two small children. They traveled on the ship "Cella" and Ellen is listed as age 22, her daughter, age 2 and her son age 3 months. Her husband traveled ahead of her and was waiting for her arrival in Atlanta, Georgia. He had set up a home for them in Ben Hill, Fulton Co., Georgia. The family is listed in the 1870 Census, Atlanta, Fulton Co., Georgia with James George Barrett head of the household age 26, from England and his wife Ellen age 22, daughter Eliz age 3 and son Llewellyn age 1 yr old. Ellen gave birth to another daughter, Agnes Ellen Barrett in 1872 in Ben Hill, Georgia. After this Ellen Marie Owens is no longer in the picture or heard of , so she either died giving birth to her third child or sometime throughout the 1870's. ( a mistake on the 1970 Census as listing Ellen, Elizabeth and Llewellyn as born in Georgia ).
Note: in the 1880 Census, James George Barrett is listed with his new wife Mary Susan Turner.
